Legislative Accomplishments

  • ACT 266 Provides for the awarding of additional good time for satisfactory participation in
    approved certified treatment and rehabilitation programs. Effective August 15, 2009. (2009Reg)

  • ACT 162 Prohibits the sale or delivery of tobacco products through a self-service display except under two conditions, defines "self-service display", exempts a tobacconist at a particular outlet and a retail tobacco business, and provides for definitions. Effective August 15, 2009. (2009Reg)

  • ACT 185 Provides changes to DPS&C reentry program provisions and provides for an
    entrepreneurial educational curriculum for eligible offenders. Effective August 15, 2009. (2009Reg)

  • ACT 511 Relative to ad valorem taxes, provides for challenges to assessments, bidding
    procedures at tax sales, tax sale title to undivided interests, public sale or donation of tax parcels, and provides for the sale of adjudicated property to adjoining property owners. Effective August 15, 2009. (2009Reg)

  • ACT 423 Changes the boundaries of the Shreveport Downtown Development District. Effective July 7, 2009. (2009Reg)

  • ACT 819 Revises the procedures on property tax payment and collection, tax sales, and adjudicated property. Effective January 1, 2009. (2008Reg)

  • ACT 324 Changes the name of the McNeill Street Pumping Station Museum to the Shreveport Water Works Museum. Effective August 15, 2007. (2007Reg)

  • ACT 434 Provides for small business incentives. Effective August 15, 2006. (2006Reg)

  • ACT 441 Creates the crime of prohibited sale of video or computer games to minors. Effective June 15, 2006. (2006Reg)

  • ACT 18 Changes the period of time for owners or other interested parties to contest the acquisition of abandoned property adjudicated more than five years to a parish or municipality from 120 days to 60 days. Effective April 18, 2006. (2006Ex1)

  • ACT 475 Adds up to 1% or $500,000 of the Pari-mutuel Live Racing Facility Gaming Control Fund to the Compulsive and Problem Gaming Fund. Effective July 1, 2005. (2005Reg)

  • ACT 466 Doubles the amount one can receive in terms of tax credits for companies that relocate within the inner city described by a HUB Zone, a federally designated area that describes degrees of poverty within census tracts. The bill increases the credits from $2500 to $5000 per person who are located within those HUB Zones. Effective July 1, 2005. (2005Reg)

  • ACT 545 Creates the McNeill Street Pumping Station Museum in the Department of State. Provides support for a project that would increase interest of young people in history, become a tourist attraction, and preserve history of hydraulics that revolutioned steam-powered machinery. (2004Reg)
